This is how we do...engineering?

3-May-2016

So I’ve been modifying my deep hive body to try to get these flow frames to fit.  When I ordered them I only got 6 of them for a 10 frame box.  Yes, yes..I had no idea what I was doing at the time of ordering but I will make them work.  I’m an engineer, damnit!

Finished product:

I added a neat observation window as well so I can pop the side off and look in and down into the hive.

For those wondering, I tried to maintain bee-space on the inside so that they wouldn’t go around adding all kinds of burr comb as they call it.  Bee space is approximately 7.5mm or about 0.3”

I know these flow frames are relatively controversial around the beekeeping world...well too bad.  I’m going to try to make them work, I’m an engineer, damnit.

That aside, I believe it’s getting close to the time to either have honey supers on or to be adding them.  I’ll let you know how this goes soon enough :)
